Every board in this shop is rigorously handpicked by an admittedly picky woodworker — chosen for its grain, its character, and the job it needs to do. These are the regulars, and more species join the lineup when a piece calls for them.
Cedar
Naturally resistant to rot, moths, and insects — which is why cedar has guarded blankets and braved back porches for generations. It's light, stable, and wonderfully aromatic. Left raw it weathers to silver; oiled, it glows amber for years.

American Black Walnut
The furniture maker's favorite for a reason: deep chocolate tones, swirling figure, and a weight that says quality before you've read a word. We turn it on the lathe, where its grain does something different in every single blank.

Red Oak
The classic American furniture hardwood: strong, heavy, and proudly grained. Red oak takes a finish beautifully and shrugs off decades of daily use — there's a reason the family pieces that survive tend to be oak.

How a piece gets made.
No production line, no batch of five hundred. Here's what happens between your order and your doorstep.
Select & mill
Boards are chosen by hand for grain and soundness, then milled flat, square, and true in the shop.
Cut & join
Every joint is cut to fit its exact mate. Outdoor pieces get exterior-grade hardware; boxes get hand-fitted corners.
Sand & finish
Sanded through the grits until it feels right, then finished for the piece's real life — oil, wax, or left raw to weather.
Pack & ship
Padded, boxed, and insured for the full value. You'll get photos of your finished piece before it leaves.
The maker's guarantee.
If a joint fails or hardware works loose under normal use, send a photo and it gets repaired or replaced — no forms, no fine print, no arguing. A piece with my name on it should outlast me.
Before you order.
How long until my piece ships?
Most pieces are made to order — small turned goods ship in under a week, benches and ottomans in two to three weeks, and chests in three to five. Anything marked Available now is finished and ships within the week. The exact lead time is listed on every product page, and you'll get photos of your finished piece before it ships.
Can I get a custom size or a piece that's not in the shop?
Yes — a good share of the shop's work is custom. You'll get a fixed quote and a sketch before any wood is cut. Start with the contact form and describe what you have in mind.
What if something arrives damaged?
Every shipment is insured for its full value. Send a photo within 48 hours of delivery and we'll repair, replace, or refund — your choice. See Shipping & Returns for the details.
